Spice Island Beach Resort voted best in the Caribbean.

Grand Anse, Grenada, one of the Caribbean’s favourite beaches, is home to the Caribbean’s favourite beach resort. Spice Island Beach Resort has been voted number 1 hotel in the Caribbean, as part of the coveted TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice 2013 awards.

Resort chairman Sir Royston Hopkin says: “The TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice award is perhaps the greatest honour of all as it comes directly from our guests.”

“As a boutique resort without the marketing budget of our large chain counterparts, we rely on visitors to spread the message for us – and they’ve done a terrific job rewarding our hospitality with their gracious comments.”

Kenwood Travel and Spice Island Beach Resort

Sir Royston was awarded his knighthood in the 2005 New Year’s Honours List for over 40 years of tireless services to tourism in Grenada. He bought a majority share in the Spice Island Inn, as it was then known, in 1987. Two years later, the property was his, and it seems his commitment never once lapsed.

He credits the unending efforts by staff and a visionary management team to creating the ultimate relaxed environment. And it is true Spice Island Beach Resort appeals to more or less every traveller. The resort genuinely caters for all, whether it’s high-end luxury you seek, a simple, relaxed launch pad from which to start an adventure, a place for families to get together, the romantics to get away, or the betrothed to get hitched.

Spice Island blends effortlessly with the lush green natural surroundings for which Grenada is so recognised. The beach is nothing short of spectacular – two miles of dazzlingly white sand and impossibly turquoise water, fringed by tropical flora that frames the AAA Four-Diamond-Rated resort and its oceanfront pool.

Haute Cuisine at Spice Island Beach Resort

And of course, being located on Grenada, the Spice Island itself, has its benefits. Spice Island Beach Resort’s Creole-inspired cuisine uses local herbs, spices and produce. But this is no ordinary beachfront fare. Skilled chefs prepare Caribbean-style haute cuisine, and the results are decadent, delicious and presented with design and style worthy of any of the world’s leading restaurants. End your perfect day in the sun with up to seven ambrosial courses al fresco, as waves gently lap against the shoreline.

The TripAdvisor awards are made by travellers, for travellers, and it seems the people have spoken. If you’re stuck for where to go in the West Indies, perhaps Spice Island Beach Resort might sway your decision.
