The great American Road Trip is the Holy Grail of U.S.A. travel and has been romanticised throughout literature, music and film. Cult classic movies such as Thelma and Louise, Easy Rider and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas each feature memorable driving scenes taking place on the great open road; they continue to inspire a generation of thrill-seeking travellers. When Kenwood Travel‘s Product Executive Damian Skrzek returned from his own road trip, we were keen to see the holiday snaps and find out as much as possible in 60 seconds – he’s a busy guy!
Why did you decide to explore America by car?
We wanted to see many places and cover a large area – so the best and cheapest way to do it was by car.
What vehicle were you travelling in?
What was your route?
While in Vegas we made 2-day trip to Zion Park and Bryce Canyon. On the 2nd day we went to Antelope Canyon, Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam.
16 nights in total. 2 in LA, 7 in Vegas, 2 in motels on our way to San Fran and 4 in San Fran itself.
Would you recommend a road trip?
What was the best place you visited?
Grand Canyon – incredible place.
And the worst?
If you did the trip again, would you do anything differently?
I wouldn’t go to LA or Lake Tahoe. I’d also spend more time exploring the Grand Canyon area and would see Monument Valley.
What is the best thing about the American people?
They’re helpful and very friendly.
