In the words of the Greek historian Dio Cassius, Cleopatra “was a woman of surpassing beauty… and a knowledge of how to make herself agreeable to everyone.”

The same can be said about Angelina Jolie and, of course, other divas who have portrayed the Egypt’s queen in the past – including Vivien Leigh and Elizabeth Taylor.

Jolie is scheduled to start filming this year a new biopic on Cleopatra, a film by the British director Paul Greengrass.

As a run-up to her preparations for her upcoming role Angelina Jolie has travelled to Egypt at the beginning of June. The trip also coincided with her 37th birthday, so it comes as no surprise that her fiancée Brad Pitt was there too to celebrate the big day.

The film stars arrived to Aswan Airport on a private plane and spent several days in Upper Egypt visiting the ancient cities of Luxor and Aswan, the Philae Temple and the Nubian Museum among other popular sightseeing spots.
