Disney has given us some unforgettable moments, glittering our memories and filling us with that warm fuzzy feeling! Ask anyone about their childhood and Disney is bound to crop up at least a few times. We’ve all laughed, cried and sung along to our favourite Disney films at some point. We all have our favourites which no matter how many years pass, still make us feel exactly as they did when we first watched them as kids. But when we think of Disney and watch those classics, we don’t often notice one common denominator that appears in almost every movie – food. Apples, spaghetti, ratatouille, pies you name it, over the years Disney has provided us with some truly mouthwatering moments. Here are our all time favourite animated (or semi-animated) tummy rumblers:

1. Lady and the Tramp

lady and the tramp spaghetti

Of course this one takes the number one spot. The moment when two adorable dogs fell in love over a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs, sharing their iconic first kiss as they slurped the same noodle.

2. Alice In Wonderland

Alice Eating breadFood got kooky in Alice’s wonderland with bread-and-butterflies, life-sized mushrooms, baby oysters that became the walrus’ supper,  ‘Eat Me’ sweets that turned Alice giant and the ‘Drink Me’ bottle’s mysterious shrinking potion. Then of course there’s the mad-hatters tea party which became so iconic that restaurants and bakeries across the globe sought to recreate it in quirky afternoon tea and dessert experiences.

3. Beauty and the Beast

Be our guest

During ‘Be Our Guest’ we get a teasing glimpse of hors d’oeuvres, cakes, pastries and tons of other yummy foods. Plus, who can forget the heartwarming dinner scene when Beast clumsily struggles to eat soup with his giant paws so Belle ditches the cutlery and gulps it down it along with him.

4. Ratatouille

Ratatouille

That moment when a rat with extraordinary culinary talents taught us to cook soup! The film is jam-packed with memorable cooking action, and wraps up with a delicious denouement in which rodent Remy opens up his own restaurant and becomes the most famous chef in France.

5. Princess and the Frog

The film is bursting with southern soulfood delicacies including Gumbo, Jumbalaya and other yummy-looking animated treats whipped up and served by aspiring chef Princess Tiana herself.

6. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

We wish it could rain cheeseburgers in real life too.

7. Sleeping Beauty

King Hubert

Not only do the three fairies make Aurora a massive buttercream birthday cake, but in an even more memorable foodie moment King Hubert scoffs a giant turkey leg. Supersized turkey legs are now a classic Disneyworld snack and selfies of guests munching on the king-sized drumsticks at Disney parks have been trending all over social media.

8. Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins Candy apples

The first time I discovered caramel apples was through my TV screen as the children devoured this delicious fairground treat during ‘supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’. And the sugar rush didn’t stop there, nor was it just ‘a spoonful’, for Mary Poppins also requests raspberry ice cream, cakes and tea at a restaurant where she is served by penguin waiters.

9. Snow White

gooseberry pie

Snow White convinces the dwarves to let her stay by cooking an epic feast consisting of apple dumplings, plumb pudding and gooseberry pie. Plus, the Queen lures Snow White with a brilliantly shiny, ruby-red apple.

10. Frozen

Anna chocolates

Anna rather ungracefully shovels chocolate into her mouth in ‘The First Time In Forever’, and during ‘Love is an Open Door’ reveals that her and Hans “finish each others… sandwiches”. Plus sharing is caring when Kristoff splits his carrot with pet reindeer Sven, and later Sven takes a snap at Olaff’s nose.

11. The Incredibles

Incredibles

All superheroes need their protein, so it’s no wonder that the Incredible family are featured feasting on a gigantic steak dinner.

12. The Lion King

Timone and Pumba even made eating insects look appealing. Anyone remember RownTree’s ‘Bursting Bugs’ aka the official Lion King-watching goodies?…oh sweet memories!

13. Tangled

Tangled

Rapunzel bakes pies and cookies and we learn that her favourite dinner is hazelnut soup. Later apples appear yet again as Max devours a bagful of ‘mostly’ not stolen apples from Flynn.

14. Enchanted

Enchanted

Pip was almost cooked alive in a clay oven atop a pizza, was locked inside a popcorn vendor cart, and realized too late that he should have ‘laid off the nuts’ after breaking the tree trunk. Plus Nathaniel invents some creatively evil and yet tasty ways to poison Giselle, including a caramel apple and an apple Martini, before the Queen ultimately succeeds with a regular blood-red apple… what is it with Disney and apples?!

15. Pinocchio

Everybody’s favourite puppet helped himself to pies and ice cream at Pleasure Island. I can’t watch this scene without my sweet tooth tingling a little.

With Kenwood Travel’s Free Disney Dining, if you book your holiday to Orlando now you can get a taste of Disney’s mouthwatering magic at no extra cost… but maybe avoid those apples – if Disney taught us anything it’s that more often than not that fruit is up to no good!
