Where to stay

The Kenwood Travel Florida holiday team prides itself on getting to know our clients so we can recommend the type of accommodation that suits them best. Below we’ve picked out three ways to stay that include something for everyone.

I-Drive B&B Hotel
Ramada Plaza Resort & Suites – Looking to discover Orlando’s romantic side? This is an excellent option for couples who perhaps don’t want to drive as it provides free shuttles to the theme parks.

Kissimmee Area
The Grove Resort & Spa – A great choice for families and even has a water park onsite plus a full kitchen in each apartment-style suite. Car hire is recommended at this hotel.

Onsite Disney
Disney Port Orleans Riverside – A firm favourite both with Kenwood Travel staff and customers. Add on dining for a full board experience around the parks. Car hire is optional as a free magical Express airport shuttle is provided with bookings. If you do opt to hire a car, parking is free for UK visitors.

Let the magic begin

DAY ONE
Magic Kingdom

Disney’s Magic Kingdom is the main theme park at Walt Disney World Resort. It features the iconic Cinderella Castle and other awesome attractions like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Adventureland, the Western-themed Frontierland and the ambient carnival atmosphere of Fantasyland and Storybook Circus. And let’s not forget the otherworldly experiences of the legendary Space Mountain, Astro Orbiter or the charmingly named Carousel of Progress in Tomorrowland. We’re kicking off our perfect week in Orlando by spending our first full day at Magic Kingdom. We’ll take in all the sights, sounds and sensations of the attractions but the day starts and ends with two unmissable Orlando traditions. First, it’s a character themed breakfast with the belle of the ball herself, Cinderella. And to wrap up our magical first day in Orlando, we’ll take in the famous fireworks display to top things off with awe and wonder.

Magic Kingdom

Is there a more enduring image of the magic of Orlando than Cinderella’s Castle?

DAY TWO
Discovery Cove

Swim with the friendly bottlenose dolphins, feed tropical birds by hand, float leisurely downstream on the scenic river and even snorkel among exotic marine life and fish. Whether you’re interacting with the animals, kicking back on the beach at Serenity Bay or taking on the water rides, the pace is as relaxed or upbeat as you like. Discovery Cove’s individual attractions will keep us entertained for the whole day, so we’ll be breakfasting here on day two so we can really make the most of our time. Explorer’s Aviary, Fresh Water Oasis, The Grand Reef, Wind-away Rivera and Seaventure are all brimming with fun, but the Kenwood crew love our dolphin pals so we’ll be making Dolphin Lagoon the highlight of our day.

Discovery Cove

We’ll be getting up close and personal with the wonderful marine life at Discovery Cove.

DAY THREE
Disney’s Animal Kingdom®

Once again, we’ll be having breakfast at the theme park to maximise our time. We love the food – and the characters – at Tusker House so we’ll call in there for a hearty meal before the action beings. We’ll be dining with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy who’ll be in their safari gear ready for the adventure. After breakfast we’ll venture through the jungles, rainforests and savannahs in search of wonderful wildlife experiences. Disney’s Animal Kingdom® is divided between Africa, Asia, Discovery Inland and Rafiki’s Planet Watch, but our favourite theme has got to be Dinoland USA where a roaring good time will be had by all. Hakuna matata!

Animal Kingdom safari

We’re heading out on safari at Animal Kingdom for day three of our perfect week in Orlando.

DAY FOUR
Pool day & Dinner on i-Drive

We’re Orlando experts, so after three days of theme park thrills we know a bit of down time is in order, which is why we’ve scheduled a pool day for day four. The plan is to wake up at our leisure, grab breakfast at the hotel, then hit the pool. We can kick back on a lounger, have the occasional tropical dink and cool off with a dip in the pool when the famous Florida sun gets too hot. The Kenwood Travel Orlando experts have lined up some great International Drive hotels with Bed & Breakfast. Each one is right in the heart of the action with great locations on iDrive – the so-called Sunset Strip of Florida. This famous road is where Orlando comes into its own as an international destination for shopping, entertainment and especially dining. After our pool day we’ll be getting dressed for dinner and hitting iDrive ready to sample the American home cooking of famous restaurants like Logan’s Roadhouse, Café Tango and Delmonico’s Italian Steak House.

DAY FIVE
Hollywood Studios including Fantasmic

Fully restored after a day by the pool, we’re ready to dive back into the theme park fun which put Orlando on the map for family holidays. Day five is Hollywood Studios day, our chance to take centre stage in the exciting worlds of film, TV, music and theatre. Never the shy-and-retiring wallflower type, the Kenwood Travel Orlando team will be raring to go at this amazing attraction. We’re particularly looking forward to Star wars Launch Pad, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! and Toy Story Mania! but will we be brave enough to take on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror? The evening we’re dedicating to something really special at Hollywood Studios. The Fantasmic theatre show is an absolute must for Disney fans. It’s the story of good and evil doing battle in Mickey’s dream, lived large in a thrilling outdoor setting at night. It’s bursting with immersive special effects, lasers and pyrotechnics that bring the adventure to life before your eyes, and you can even get designating restaurant seating for the show during dinner with the Fantasmic Dining Package. Count us in!

At Marvel Super Hero Island at Universal’s Islands of Adventure we’ll be battling it out with Marvel super heroes.

DAY SIX
Universal Resort Orlando

We’ve been loving Disney this week, but no holiday to Orlando is complete without a visit to a certain other theme park in town. Universal Resort Orlando is the port of call for day six of our Perfect Week in Orlando, and it’s shaping up to be a good one. The individual theme parks: Universal Studios Florida™, Universal’s Islands of Adventure™ and Universal’s Volcano Bay Water Theme Park™ have something for everyone, from the adrenalin fuelled to the light-hearted, and there’s even more to look forward to with splash-tastic water parks nearby, such as Sea World. In between rides and rollercoasters we’ll be sampling the resort’s excellent dining options, entertainment and cinemas along Universal’s CityWalk. The nightlife is notable on CityWalk too, so we may end the day with a few cocktails and let our hair down on the dance floor.

Universal Studios

Iconic entertainment at Universal Studios Orlando; make it part of your perfect holiday week.

DAY SEVEN
Shopping Spree

Florida’s famous for lots of things: sunshine, oranges, beaches and theme parks to name just a few. It’s also known for its shopping malls, and some of the best are in Orlando. This will be the theme of the last day of our perfect week in Orlando. But we’re looking for somewhere upscale to match the quality of our holiday in general, so we’ve picked The Mall at Millenia on Conroy Road near iDrive. This classy, glass-ceilinged mega mall brims with high-end stores, designer boutiques and fine dining eateries. Perfect for an end-of-holiday shopping spree to buy gifts for friends and family and perhaps a keepsake or two for ourselves.
