Hi Paul, congratulations on winning the competition! Can you describe your overall experience with Crystal Cruise?
Crystal is a six-star cruise experience where you are extremely well looked after and the attention to detail is very much evident throughout the voyage. The staff seem to be happy in their roles and that creates a very positive experience onboard where nothing is too much to ask for. Wherever you opt to eat on the ship, you receive the best of attention. The food is amazing, I pay particular tribute to the buffet breakfast and lunch offerings, which were some of the best we have experienced. The choice and quality of the food is fantastic. The entertainment onboard was also first class, the stateroom was luxurious and very well equipped, and the stateroom attendant and butler ensured that I was more than well-catered for. The ship’s various venues were all very luxurious, with outstanding attention to detail to ensure they were comfortable and welcoming. From start to finish, it really was a fantastic cruise that will forever remain in my memory.
What did you enjoy most onboard Crystal Symphony?
I most enjoyed my interactions with the amazing onboard staff throughout my voyage and the fact that they attentively remembered each guest and made you feel really looked after. The food is undoubtedly worth mentioning too! It was amazing and there was such a huge variety to choose from.
What was your favourite port of call?
I would say Rouen was my favourite port of call. We got to see so much incredible scenery as we sailed up the Seine. The locals were very friendly too, waving at us as we passed by. The next day we took a full-day trip to the D-Day landing beaches.
Who would you recommend Crystal to?
I would recommend Crystal to those who are looking for a six-star experience where you can enjoy the best of food and service. Accommodation also has to be added here as the staterooms were very luxurious.
What was the highlight of your trip?
The highlight of this trip would be the journey up the Seine. It was an amazing experience. I have never done a river cruise before but we got the added benefit of travelling with the classic cruise ship experience. The scenery was awesome and thankfully, it was good weather on the way to Rouen. This will forever stay in my memory.
Were there any hidden gems on your trip that you would recommend, whether that be onboard or in a port?
The buffet breakfast was simply the best. So much choice, and never too busy with lovely seating and caring staff. I would also recommend spending time exploring the ship and making the most of the onboard entertainment. There were some fabulous onboard artists who provided simply the best of sounds.
What are some travel tips you would give anyone taking the same cruise?
I would recommend that you do some research prior to visiting each port to ensure that you get the best experience from each one. You should note the times of arrival and departure and ensure if you do book a trip, you also have time to explore the port of call. You can also pre-check the expected weather conditions using the latest technology available online to ensure you can prepare as best as you can clothes-wise.
